They say what we want to hear
It’s like music to our ears
They play on our deepest fears
We long for the “golden years”
We’re led by pied pipers
Bought and promised the moon
We can’t decipher truth from lies
We’re caught up in their tune
Their faults we race to cover
Yeah, that’s it
Wink at their flaws, extol their grit
After all, who cares about others
If we’re blessed with the benefits?
Lord, what’s going on?
What has become of us?
We’ve shown symptoms all along
We’ve yet to give You total trust
You’re our only hope
All isn’t lost
So no matter the cost
Save us from this slippery slope
Bring us back to our first love
We sing to You, our God above
Break our chains
To praise only Your name
Whatever is to come
Help us trust in a party of One
