Jesus, You deserve our worship
Simply because of who You are
How can we turn away and quench
The fire burning within our hearts?
You tell us in love every day
To proclaim our trust and faith
Never be afraid to speak out
Yet I’m amazed how we freaked out
About a single election
It revealed our real selection
You were never the goal
We sold our souls for power and control
We used You as a pawn all along
You’ve been a mere mean to an end
We’ve betrayed You, our closest Friend
For so long, we’ve played the part
The world grieves as it sees
What’s really been in our hearts
So, what are we going to do?
It’s high time we shift our view
Lift our eyes back up to You
While it will cause some pain
It’s a change long overdue
There’s a need for healing
It must begin within me
