You were our matriarch
Whose love was a light in the dark
Leaving its mark on our hearts
You were the beauty of our community
Filling it with grace through and through
How can anyone replace you?
It’ll be almost impossible to do
You gave us words of wisdom
Where would we have been without them?
Whenever we sat at your table
You were always so willing and able
To nourish our bodies and our souls
Giving us courage to let God take control
Your home was our space for love and truth
How can anyone replace you?
It’ll be almost impossible to do
We’ll cherish every memory
As an inheritance from heaven’s treasury
We’re as strong as we could ever be
Your love is the strength of our family
We’ll hold on to what you taught us
It’s brought us peace for the improbable
With God nothing’s impossible
Although it’ll be hard to do
One day a time, we’ll make it through
We’ll always remember you
