My heavenly Father
Gave me another family
There aren’t enough words to say
What it’s meant to me
Yet my new heritage
Doesn’t erase my racial identity
I love the man that I am
I’m wonderfully made
I love my skin, I love my shade
I’m unique, a part of the whole
To reach our peak
I’ve got a role to play
If we’re to be on one accord
And light the way
Then my story can’t be ignored
It can’t be swept away
We’re sisters and brothers
Let’s learn about each other
Please see me
Yes, I am a color
It’s a fact and I’ll never take it back
I’m proud of who I am, color me black
